Summary
This new position is to strengthen the onsite finance function in a B2C service provider in the private healthcare market, the business forms part of a larger international group with operations in Europe and the US.
This important role is an exciting development opportunity to work with talented, experienced and highly motivated professionals within the Group Finance function and across all functions of the business.
As this is a new role, this candidate will have an opportunity to use their skills and experience to make a significant impact in a business at an exciting stage of the lifecycle by contributing to change and improvement to all aspects of the business.
This role will require diligence, determination, strong financial accounting experience, the ability to deliver quality work according to deadlines, analytical and organisational skills, a positive “can do” attitude, office suite skills, and an ability to work effectively with colleagues of all levels and from all functions across the business.
The Role
The reporting line for this vacancy is directly to Group Finance.
This is a “hands-on” accounting position, where you will be required to take responsibility for all aspects of finance in this business and to support the Group Finance function in delivering the business’s strategic objectives, beneficial change and growth.
Acting as the Group Finance’s “eyes and ears“ on the ground, you will be expected to develop and maintain a strong relationship with Group Finance, to report issues and support initiatives in optimising the business’s performance and its proper functioning according to Group policies, initiatives and directives, while building effective relationships with local management.
In addition to the day-to-day financial accounting, you will be responsible for group reporting, management accounting, managing audit/tax service suppliers, providing business challenge and driving performance in the business. The post holder will report directly to the Group finance function and be a key point of contact for the group.
Day to day responsibilities will include financial accounting, reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, commercial support, managing the work of finance assistants in the general, sales and purchase ledgers, in addition there may be other ad hoc work related to the business as required by the Group finance function.
As a fully qualified accountant you must be willing and eager to take responsibility, deliver high quality work on time, to be challenged and be held accountable. You should also possess the ability to challenge the business and hold colleagues accountable when appropriate.
You will possess an extremely strong determination to relentlessly pursue the truth, to deliver optimal performance by analysing, understanding, exploring, identifying, and implementing effective solutions and improvements wherever required by working with relevant colleagues and then reporting during post implementation to ensure delivery.
The post holder will receive guidance and support from Group, however you should also have the initiative to drive beneficial change as needed, to work with the business to assess and deliver performance opportunities, in short as an accountant you should be more than a mere score keeper, you should have both the ability and drive to improve the business.
Candidate Profile
First and foremost you must be a fully qualified accountant (CPA ACCA/ACA/CIMA), and have the strong financial accounting skills which are foundational to this role.
This means you should possess robust experience in preparing accounts yourself and of being “in the trenches hands of financial accounting” which will allow you to do the work needed and to guide others if needed.
This role could be filled by a variety of candidates with different levels of experience.
The scope of this role is the financial aspects for the “whole business” and depending on who is appointed it may take some time for the post-holder to develop to do that, however the necessary foundational starting point for the post-holder is competently managing all financial accounting.
For example this role would be an excellent fit for a CPA looking for their first move out of public practice, however they would need to have actual experience in preparing accounts and not just audit.
Candidates with more experience gained in the commercial world would also be a good fit, they too should have experience in financial accounting but they may also bring other useful experience to the table that helps them to be more effective in the role sooner.

Solid financial accounting experience.
